1. Second opinion
   Family law is an extremely complex area. If things are looking complicated, it is worthwhile contacting a second solicitor to see if your planned course of action is considered appropriate by them. Sometimes, legal opinion and costs come hand-in-hand. For example, you might be advised by your solicitor to settle for terms you aren't happy with to save the amount your solicitor would charge in fees if you were to take the matter to court.
